When going to school in a small town it's often hard to find things you haven't done before. However in one of my classes we were assigned a tour around Milledgeville. My group had several things we'd never heard of before, so it was quite an adventure. First we went to a local hair salon. It was funny because the hours on the window indicated that they were open until 6, however at 5:30 the doors were locked and nobody was inside. Next we went to Allen's Arts and Crafts, which was near campus. I've passed it a couple of times but never really had an interest of what the building was. So we walk up to the building to find out that this was also closed. We decided to go to the next place. Then we drove to the greenway, which many of us had been to before. It's a place to walk or run around a path, go jumping off the mill, relax and eno by the river, and play with your dog at the dog park. This is one of my favorite places to go and exercise or relax. After the greenway, we drove to a different area of town. One that none of us had been to before. We arrived at the destination: The Country Buffet. The parking lot of empty, there were bars on the windows, and it was closed. Needless to say we didn't get out and didn't spend long in that area of town. Moving along, we drove to one of the hidden gems of milledgeville to Lockerly. Lockerly is very similar to buildings in historical Roswell, where I grew up. There was a big white building with column in the front. The furniture was very antiqued and beautiful. Apparently there are beautiful gardens on the property, they we didn't explore because it had already closed. My group had talked about going back to see what it was like when it's open because it looks absolutely breathtaking. It's something we didn't expect to find in Millegeville. We went to a couple more places around Milledgeville, expect they were all closed. Needless to say there is always something to do in a small town, you might have to go out of your comfort zone and explore. There's nothing like driving around with no destination and seeing where you end up.
